Uptopia Machine...what an assignment...

For class we were to design a machine that would better the world in some way. An Utopian machine. We'd sketch it out and write what it would do and present it to the class. My teacher wanted us to read a certain article about different advances in technology made for artists and such in fields such as photography and sewing among other things which was written by a guy named Bush, who isn't at all related to the Republican guy who led our country into a "war against terrorism" and ended making our soldiers babysit an explosive democratic in-the-making country to make sure no one there would be making more nuclear bombs. (oops, I went on a tanget there...sorry)

So I read this thing and then I started thinking about what machine I'd think up. Is it possible for the chaotic uncertain world that we live in to ever be an utopia? After I waved off this deep thoughtful question I started thinking about what kind of machine I should make. What kind of problems are we all plagued by that by solving would better our world?

1.) World Hunger (While many rich and well off kids refuse to eat their vegatables, many others off in a third world country are digging in a trash heap for moldy morsels just to feed themselves.)
2.) Corrupted Media (Take a look at all the crap spread all around during this recent campaign if you are wondering just what I'm talking about...I swear...the press has taken too many liberties with manipulating information to suit their needs.)
3.) America's economy problems (We are importing more than we are exporting; our stock market is falling drastically; people are losing jobs; some thing is indeed wrong!)
4.) World Peace (How will making more advanced weapons to win a war persuade everyone else put their own firearms down and call it quits?)
5.) Depressed teenagers who need help and think they'll get it through school shootings (Don't bully those kids who are at the bottom of the social ladder, you never know if they'll develop deadly grudges and later put a gun to your face when you least expect it.)
6.) Gasoline prices (No one feels like going on a nice drive in the country side anymore. However they have nothing against buying giant gas hog cars, otherwise known as SUVs. Anyway, we are running out of gasoline and places to obtain gasoline. Although the price is dropping, we can't help but wonder, is there something afoot here?)

There are many other problems too, some small some large...life is full of concerns and issues, needs and wants. Is an utopia a place where all our needs are fully met? Where people are at peace and are no longer hungry or stressed? Is is such an existance possible? What is utopia?
